The Media Service Department serves persons of all ages. Our collections consists of framed art prints, compact discs, CD-ROMs, DVDs, video cassettes, LPs, read-a-longs, childrens books on tape, and childrens books on disc.
A number of services are also provided through the Media Department: listening and viewing stations, auditorium reservations, public display case reservations, media reference assistance, public Internet computers, and an ADA computer system.
Viewing /Listening Centers:
These are available for anyone over the age of 12 previewing portions of media materials according to posted guidelines.

Floyd County organizations which offer free programs open to the general public may reserve the auditorium.
Provide Floyd County profit and nonprofit organizations and individuals with exhibit space (27.5" x 73" x 112") to display items of public interest.

Media reference assistance and referral
staff may be able to assist with questions relating to media and the popular culture of movies, music, and art.
During regular library hours, staff may be able to assist with questions over the phone relating to media and the popular culture areas of movies, music, and art.
Gifts made in memory or in honor of individuals or groups are always welcome. There are lists of these available.

The collection includes such areas as children�s, foreign language Instructions, and history.
Compact Disc:
A collection of all types of music (popular, classical, jazz, etc) and topics such as exercise and comedy.
DVDs:
This new collection is arranged in a manner identical to video cassettes.
Long Playing Records
This unique collection includes music and other recordings, many of which are not available in another format.
Video Cassettes
These are divided into seven main movie categories: drama, comedy, musical, science fiction/fantasy/horror, children's, young adult, and nonfiction. Nonfiction videos are arranged by the same classification system (Dewey Decimal) as the book collection.
Children's Videos
Children's videos are shelved separately from the main video collection.
Special Collections
- The National Gallery of Arts provides the library with videos and CD-ROMs, describing artist and the works of artists. Most of these are classified in the 750's.
- Holiday materials in all various media formats.
- The library has an extensive nonfiction video collection. This includes exercise and travel films, histories and biographies, such as those on the A&E cable channel, series , such as all those by Ken Burns, and many of the American Experience (PBS), and Hallmark Hall of Fame series.
- Local history videos are available to circulate. (The Indiana History Room has audio cassette programs available for listening within that department).
