 hosted by Media Services
Coraline September 13, 2010 6:00PM Rated PG………………………...101 Minutes Coraline is a 2009 Oscar-nominated American stop-motion 3-D fantasy/horror film based on Neil Gaiman's 2002 novel of the same name. It is written and directed by Henry Selick. Coraline Jones moves from Pontiac, Michigan with her mother and father to the Pink Palace Apartments in Oregon, an old house subdivided into three residences. In the house, Coraline finds an oddly small door that has been wallpapered over. She gets her mother to unlock it, only to find a brick wall behind it. That night, Coraline discovers that the brick wall has disappeared, replaced by a long corridor to another door. At the other end, Coraline finds herself in the "Other World," which is inhabited by her "Other Mother" and "Other Father", doppelgangers of her parents, except for having black buttons in place of eyes. Will Coraline stay in the “Other World” or will she stay with her family? Bring your 3-D glasses and join us for this wonderful movie

A walking tour around the library will begin in September. The tour begins at the circulation desk where all services pertaining to library cards and lending policies will be discussed. A demonstration of the check-out self- service will allow participants to become comfortable with checking out their own books. Book requests and hold procedures will also be highlighted as the group examines the request holding area of the library. The tour will guide participants through the process of locating a book in the online catalog, as well as the procedure to log on to a computer to access the Internet. The tour includes a brief walk through the reference area, where participants will learn how to request a book loaned from another library called interlibrary loan. Downstairs, the tour will be guided through the library's genealogy and history room, computer lab, and finally the Children's Department. Participants will be shown the auditorium, where most library programs and book discussions take place. The library tour begins on September 20th at 6:00 p.m. and will last approximately 45 minutes.
